Welsh Software firm builds on language success

Wales-based software solutions provider, Draig Technology, is pioneering a range of language software enhancement products that will see the firm expand into new markets over the new few months.

The development enables Draig to provide both the public and private sectors across the UK with tailored multi-lingual solutions and follows on from the introduction of Draig’s Interceptor product that makes it possible for any web-based software to be used in a number of languages without the need for modifications.

Draig has now extended the capabilities of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (SharePoint) by way of its range of enhancement products and multi-lingual configuration templates. SharePoint is a comprehensive information, record and content management platform used to streamline and enhance information and content related processes and workflow.

As well as improving accessibility, the Draig enhancements will enable a user to switch seamlessly between different languages when using SharePoint managed website, document management or collaboration portals (including social networking sites). At the same time the business can ensure that everyday tasks like document handling, website management and translation are consistently dealt with and streamlined; all while costs are kept to a minimum.

Draig Technology is already well known for assisting in the development of multilingual software solutions including versions of Microsoft Windows and Office, its language support product ‘To Bach’, and for its part in authoring the Bilingual Software Guidelines and Standards document for the Welsh Language Board.

The firm has also ensured compliance with changing web accessibility legislation, improved efficiencies in multi-lingual environments across the EU and Canada and providing access to new markets - previously difficult to enter on account of the language barrier - for a number of its blue-chip clients.

Richard Sheppard, Managing Director at Draig said, “Draig’s mission is to offer clients customised software solutions and proven products, providing functionally-rich software that streamlines business practices, and increases productivity and efficiency while resolving clients’ unique data management issues.

“As Wales’ first bespoke software developer to achieve Microsoft Gold Certified Partner status, this development around SharePoint will enable us to offer integrated systems development and implementation; thereby continuing to add value to both the public and private sectors.”

Since its formation in 1999, Draig Technology has undertaken projects with a number of clients including the Welsh Assembly Government, Siemens, Sunderland City Council and Rio Tinto plc.

The firm is currently in the closing stages of a major SharePoint project with the Welsh Language Board (their suite of websites and corporate intranet) and has a number of SharePoint projects underway with UWIC, Carmarthenshire County Council and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

Draig now also hopes to consolidate this market-leading position and is expected to announce further projects including projects for several Welsh councils over the next few months.

In helping organisations get a better understanding of its range of services and solutions developed around SharePoint, Draig Technology will be hosting a series of seminars across the UK in 2008 starting with Business Productivity Infrastructure Optimisation (BPIO) on May 13 in Cardiff and May 15 in Bangor.

Microsoft experts will also be on hand during the day to answer any questions you may have regarding SharePoint or any other aspects of Microsoft’s technology and solutions. To register or learn more about these solutions, please call Wayne Francis, Draig Technology on 0870 2200 512.
